I now have 4 replacement printers from HP, when all I needed is a printhead... I begged and pleaded... I got replacement after replacement with no printhead.... Hours and hours of tech support.... Still replacement printer without printhead.. Problem is my print head has a connector that is broken off...

I was only using HP ink when this happen...

I don't have any choice but to use aftermarket ink, because it will not read the chip, but I see the firmware is locked, so I have 4 paper weights..

Anyone ever figure out how to downgrade a 952 head or OfficeJet 8710 firmware??

I see several other posts are livid about it, I don't blame them..

If you can't get support you should at least get to use the printer how you want.

@DustyGadget, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

There is no option to downgrade the firmware on the printer. HP does not recommend the use of non-HP ink cartridges.

I still have not received the promised print Head.... are they obsolete or just that much junk that stock can’t keep up?
