I had to delete the printer and reinstall it on my mac, and now when I print single checks or envelopes from any program (Quickbooks, Word, etc). They print upside down.  I'm loading the paper the same way I have always done and the text is upside down.  Any ideas?  I've looked everywhere for a setting to fix this.

TIA

@AVIDPgh, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I understand you have issues with printing checks and envelopes from your Mac Computer, this could be an issue with the installed drivers or the settings-

For Inkjet printers with a front load tray: Front of the envelope facing down and the flap to the left.

Refer to the document HP Printers - Printing Envelopes (Mac) for additional help.

If you still have issues, we can try removing and adding the printer-

ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and Mac is up to date with its software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware and Mac software:

Update printer firmware

Update software on Mac

Remove and add the printer

Click the Apple menu, and then select System Preferences.

Depending on your operating system version, click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners.

Click the name of your printer, click the Minus sign, and then delete the printer.

Select printer and click the minus sign

Click the Plus sign, and then click Add Printer or Scanner.

Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select AirPrint

Select AirPrint from the Use menu

Click Add to add the printer to the list.

Try to print.

I had already done all the suggested fixes.  I reinstalled the printer yesterday and it still prints the opposite way it used to.  I will have to remember to spin my envelopes around and load them backwards from now on I guess.  It used to print facing right, now it prints facing left.

I spoke too soon.  Not only is it backwards from where it used to be, but it's so far to the left that it only prints half the address/check and it's all the way to the left edge.

@AVIDPgh

Thanks for waiting!

Ensure you're loading the envelope in tray 1 and select the correct size on the driver settings. Also, check if you've selected the correct orientation landscape vs portrait.

Refer to the document Printer Specifications for HP OfficeJet Pro 8700 Printers for paper handling specifications.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
