Envy 4520
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This weekend I did the Windows 10 update.  Now my Envy 4520 won't double side print automatically.  I have gone through every setting and redone them.  I have searched for any forum suggestions and can't find an answer.  Now when I select double sided print I get a pop up message that tells me how to turn the paper and continue.

One of the features of this printer is auto double sided printing.  The printer is just about a year old.

Has anyone else figured out how to fix this?  I am not a tec expert so going in and reprogramming is not what I should do.

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP Envy 4520 Printer. I understand that auto duplex printing is disabled after windows 10 update and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,

Right click on printer, select printer properties.

Select the Device settings tab.

Ensure that the duplex unit is set to Installed rather than Not installed.

Let me know if that works.

Cheers.

I am having the same issue. I followed your very simple steps but, my settings were already correct (set to installed). So now what do I do? It's a headache flipping my docs and placing them back in the tray. Please help.

Yes &  no it helped.  However, the most recent Windows 10 update since my original post is still causing issues.  I go to print & it tries to have me manually turn my paper.  I check my printer settings and they are correct.  So I redo them & my printer prints auto double automatically.

I really feel that the Windows 10 updates are what are causing the problems.  I hope HP can fix the software or Microsoft fixes the problem.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

Use this link for details on using the HP Print and Scan doctor: https://hp.care/2JyaC93

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:
