Envy 5030
macOS 10.15 Catalina

I bought a customer return Envy 5030 printer from the shop and the setup cartridges were missing. They gave me a new set of 304 cartridges off the shelf and said it should work. The printer is still asking for setup cartridges.

 

I would take the printer back, but due to an underlying health issue I’m trying to stay away from public places.  Can I order new cartridges or is there a button I can press to override this?

I’m in the UK.  What’s the UK helpline number? Is there an online response.  Phone lines will be busy at the moment.

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I understand you are unable to use the printer without the setup ink cartridges. I'd be happy to assist you.

  1. The ink cartridges that go with the printers are setup ink cartridges that are designed to initialize the printer.
  2. These ink cartridges are not available at stores for sale.
  3. We need to perform an OOBE reset to bypass this error.
  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

I have the same issue with no setup cartridges for a 5030 envy. Can you help with the bypass solution please. Have nornal cartridges (65s).
