My client has an error 49 on an HP Laserjet 1536 DNF MFP.  The printer is networked (not wireless) on two Windows XP workstations.  I did the following so far:

- changed the network cable

- restarted the printer

- restarted the workstations

- ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor

- reinstalled the Diagnostic Tool

- Ran the HP toolkit

- restarted the printer

- restarted the workstation

The problem remains the same, they send a print command, it sounds like it's goiing to go for a while, the Exclamation Mark flashes, the print job finally goes to the printer.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

Jeanne

Hi there jcote65,

Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here:

It can fix a lot on its own and if not give a better idea of what is going on.

Best of Luck!

'Had the same problems.

'Need to do a full factory reset.

Turn of printer.  press & hold left arrow and X keys while turning on the printer.  Keep pressing the buttons until printer says full init.
