Hp officejet 5258

Ive done the alignment a few times not fixing the issue

Kinda like the print head is moving to the next line to early as it finishes printing the last work in every other line on both sides

@6Ste6ven6, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Try making a standalone copy in black and color to check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Align the printer

  1. Load the input tray with plain white paper.

  2. Pull out the output tray, and then lift the output tray extender.

  3. On the printer control panel, swipe left on the display, and then touch Setup .

  4. Touch Tools.

  5. Swipe up on the display, and then touch Align Printer.

    An alignment page prints.

  6. Wait for the alignment page to fully eject from the printer.

  7. After the alignment page prints, lift the scanner lid, place the alignment page with the print side down on the scanner glass. Position it according to the engraved guides around the glass.

  8. Close the scanner lid, and then touch OK.

The printer aligns the ink cartridges.

  9. After the printer aligns the ink cartridges, touch OK on the control panel.

  10. Try to print again.

Let me know how this goes.

@6Ste6ven6

If you have an issue only while printing only one type of document, try updating that application you are trying to print from. You may also try making copies on the printer and check if the issue persists.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
