I have an Officejet Pro HP 8600 Plus and I recently changed internet service. I’m trying to setup with the new connection and password but the Setup menu  brings me to network but does not allow me to do anything. The message I get says “the feature has been locked by your system administrator or the person who set up the printer.”

I have not had a problem the past and I am the only person who uses this printer. This message suddenly appeared.

I have sent you a private message with the steps to reset the printer. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Thank you for your reply. I cannot even get to the support menu. Which icon are you suggesting to begin with? I start with System Setup but it won't allow me to do anything. Any further suggestions?

Please try a printer reset -

 

1) Take out the cartridges. 
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall. 
3) Wait for 30 seconds.  
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not to a surge protector. 
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

 

and then try those steps again.

Hello,

I cannot copy either on the flatbed or inserting on top.  It says the Administrator has locked and will only print in B&W - I can get color copies when printing from the computer.....cartridges are fine, prints good, no other issues.  Any suggestions, thank you,

I don't remember what I did but I googled all different things and I completely reset the printer. I can now scan but not directly from the printer's scan icon--it still says locked by admin. I have to go to my computer(mac)--launchpad--system preferences--printers & scanners. Choose the printer and scan from computer. It works this way either from feeder or flatbed. I hope this helps.
