My printer was printing just fine, and all of a sudden stopped printing in color.  I got to printer properties, and there is no option to turn on or off greyscale - even in advanced.  I also tried the clean - deleted all things HP on my computer and reinstalled.  I also deleted and reinstalled the printer multiple times.  Every time it will print in color once or twice, and then go back to the greyscale with the titled fault.  What seems to trigger it is as soon as I tell it to print in best quality.  I've tried updating firmware.  I've tried updating drivers.  Nothing is working.  Help!

Welcome to HP support community.

Did you uninstall the printer from root level?

If not, perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

Press the Windows key + R on the keyboard to bring up the run menu.

Type %temp% in the run field, and click OK.

Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)

Open folder Util

Open folder CCC

Run the uninstall_ L4.bat

When the uninstall has completed restart the computer

Press the Windows key + R on the keyboard to bring up the run menu.

Type %programfiles% in the run field and click OK.

Delete any HP/Hewlett Packard folders.

Download and install printer full feature driver

Click here to download the driver.

Once you install the printer, change the bellow settings to print in color.

  1. Open Devices and Printers by clicking the Start button , and then, on the Start menu, clicking Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click the printer that you want to use, and then click Printing preferences.
  3. Make your choices, and then click OK.
  4. Under option Print color select color , then the OK button.

Let me know how it goes.

1) I did already try uninstalling at the root level.

2) I did it again, just in case

       a) I did the %temp% and there are 6 folders that start with 7z, 2 of them have Utils (none have Util), of the 2 Utils folders, neither have CCC in it, so I could not do that.

      b) I uninstalled all HP items found in the Program Files

3) Attempted to download the drivers, and the link provided was for a completely different printer.

4) Found the correct driver, downloaded, set it up, and there is no Print Color option

The test page that I printed after I reinstalled the driver, printed in color

The test page I created from Word with multiple colored text on it, printed in greyscale.

So no, this was not an accepted solution.

This might require remote access of your computer to fix the issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

That costs money, does it not? I already tried to connect and I was told because it’s a month and a half out of warranty, there would be a fee.

If the printer is not in warranty, there might be a charge.
