Fuzzy or blurred black ink after installed new cartridge

I recently reviewed the trouble shooting techniques from the discussion with @Rebecca12. I have the same problem, that I installed new color cartridge and new black cartridge. The color opporates fine, but the black comes out fuzzy.
I have aligned the printer, but the printer does not detect the printed alignment page when scanned. I have cleaned the ink cartridges multiple times, checked print quality, taken the ink cartridge out and back in again, re aligned, re- scanned, re-cleaned all a second or some a third time. The result is the same.
I have a mac, so I don't have the same procedures to try to uninstall the printer and install again as that of Windows. I would need help with that and any other advice that you can give to try to correct the ink cartridge.
