Grid lines not printing on "Draft" quality

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've cleaned print heads and aligned the printer at least 4 times and each test page prints marginally better.  BUT, when I actually try to print (NYT crosswords), the ONLY quality levels that work are "Better" and "Best" - which is fine if I had all the time and money in the world, but I do not.  The Print & Scan Doctor is USELESS.  Can't even remember how many times I've run that. [This printer cost over $300 about 10 years ago and has been NOTHING but a constant irritation (print quality, faxing issues, ONGOING and NEVER ADDRESSED faulty wireless card with countless complaints by many people on the forums that went ignored), so it might be time for a new one.  Gee. Wonder if I'll buy another HP...]
