My black ink cartridge has never worked.

I just noticed this today, but i've had owned this printer for 3 years. Up to now, I rarely did any printing on it.

I replaced the ink cartridges today because it stopped printing in black and the colors were fading.

I replaced all the cartridges, restarted the printer, printed a test page, but it does not print black.

I printed a word document in black only and the paper came out blank.

I printed a color document and the colors work.

When I was inspecting the ink head, I noticed that the three color ports showed signs that ink had passed through them.

However, the black ink port looked brand new - i mean it is shiny silver, no signs of black.

I've tried all the troubleshooting techniques I could find, but none of them help my issue.

@jdjasp01, Welcome to HP Support Community!

If you have already performed the steps from the document Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Hope this helps!
