Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Hello, for some time on some clients of the network where this printer is installed we have this problem:
The tool "HP OfficeJet Pro 8730.exe" target "" C: \ Program Files \ HP \ HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 \ Bin \ HP OfficeJet Pro 8730.exe "-Start UDCDevicePage" of which we have the icon on the desktop starts and always asks for the installation of a new device even though the printer is already installed. This problem prevents access to all the functions of the tampante.
Hp print doctor does not detect any errors and the printer and scanner are correctly installed, however it is a problem not being able to directly access the functions.
For the scanner we created an icon on the desktop "C: \ Program Files (x86) \ HP \ HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 \ bin \ HPScan.exe". Is there a solution ???

@MDADJ, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Follow the steps below-

Step 1: Reconnect the printer

Connect the printer again to regain access to HP Printer Assistant tools.

  1. Click Connect a new printer.

  2. Select the connection type when prompted, and then follow the on-screen instructions to set up the printer.

    NOTE:

If a red X displays and the connection fails, click Retry, and then continue to the next step.

  3. Turn off the printer, and then restart your computer.

  4. Turn on the printer, and then open HP Printer Assistant.

    • If HP Printer Assistant opens, the issue is resolved.

    • If HP Printer Assistant does not open or the connection fails, continue to the next step.

Step 2: Uninstall any HP printer software

Uninstall the HP print driver and software before reinstalling the latest driver.

  1. Disconnect the USB cable from the printer, if necessary.

  2. In Windows, search for and open the Control Panel.

  3. Click Programs and Features.

  4. In the list of installed programs, click your HP printer name, and then click Uninstall or Yes.

  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the software removal.

  6. Restart the computer.

Step 3: Reinstall the latest driver from the HP website

After uninstalling the software, download and install the latest version of the full feature software.

NOTE:

You can also use the installation CD if it includes the driver for your version of Windows.

  1. Turn on the printer.

  2. Disconnect the USB cable from the printer, if necessary. The software installation prompts you to connect the cable if needed.

  3. Go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads.

  4. If a Let's identify your product to get started page displays, click Printer, type your printer model number, and then click Submit.

  5. If you need to change the operating system, click Change, select your version, and then click Change.

  6. Under the Driver heading, click Download for the full software package, or click Basic Drivers for other driver options.

Step 4: Restart the computer and the printer

Restart the computer and the printer to finish setting up the software in Windows.

  1. Turn off the printer, and then restart your computer.

  2. Turn on the printer, and then open HP Printer Assistant.

    • If HP Printer Assistant opens, the issue is resolved.

    • If HP Printer Assistant does not open, and the Printer Setup & Software screen displays, click Connect a new printer and then follow the on-screen instructions. Restart the printer and computer to complete the installation.

Step 5: Try the Windows built-in print driver

If the previous steps did not resolve the issue, use the Windows built-in driver. Go to Installing and Using the Built-in Windows Print Driver.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

the problem has not been resolved.

I had already tried all the steps listed but nothing to do.

Step 5: Try the Windows built-in print driver

If the previous steps did not resolve the issue, use the Windows built-in driver. Go to Installing and Using the Built-in Windows Print Driver. (WORKS PERFECT) but it's a shame not to be able to use the hp suite.

Looking forward to news, thank you and greetings.

@MDADJ

This is mostly an OS related issue as the built-in driver works fine.

Thanks for your interest. We are resellers and this problem is not the first time that has happened to us.
In the latter case we managed to solve it by connecting the printer via WI-Fi and then reconnecting it to the network, in this case it does not want to know. The local HP support has not been able to give us indications.
For now we have satisfied the clinete by creating a link to the scanner icon:
"C: \ Program Files (x86) \ HP \ HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 \ bin \ HPScan.exe"

The executable in "C: \ Program Files \ HP \ HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 \ Bin \ HP OfficeJet Pro 8730.exe" -Start UDCDevicePage "with the black printer icon continues to fail.

In another house even after the next win10 update, it started working again.

???
