macOS 10.14 Mojave

Hello everyone, I need your help.

I have a recurring Error 3 problem on my printer, E3 is flashing on the device screen. On the HP utility, either a paper jam or stalled printer cartridge notification appears. Checked for paper jams, there is none. I followed the trouble shooting method on the website for E3 error, still has not resolved my problem. Prior to these problems, I have noticed streaks and missing color blocks as well as crooked lines via Print Quality Diagnostics. I am planning to Align Printer and Clean Cartridges, but then I encounter this E3 error and my printer no longer responds: it is stuck at E3 error.

Reset the printer

  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  5. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  9. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed

Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates.

For more information, go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.

Try printing.

Hello TEJ1602,

I repeatedly tried to reset the printer as you instructed by the "E3" and the 2 orange LEDs near the resume button is still blinking. I can not proceed in updating the firmware because of this. Is there any other way to reset the printer? Thanks a lot.

The printhead is always stalled on the right whenever I open and check the inside of the printer when it's turned off.
