Packard Bell EasyNote LV
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Every time I install new cartridges the printer refuses to work afterwards.

After printing the test page the device refuses to scan the test page.
Usually the problem resolves after a few reboots.
This time the printer is still dead after several pc reboots, uninstalling the printer software and reinstalling.

A partial page printed, but now nothing more.

@JSS3, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Make sure you are using HP ink cartridges that are compatible with the printer.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix  any driver issue

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.

Clean the ink cartridges

Perform solution two and solution three from this document.

Let me know how this goes.

@JSS3

This seems like an application issue. Try printing different documents like PDF or Webpages and check if that works.

If you are able to print other files fine, it means the issue is not with the ink cartridge.

You may also try a clean re-installation of HP drivers

  1.  In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
  2.  Select your HP Printer
  3.  Select Uninstall
  4.  In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
  5.  In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
  6.  Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
  7.  Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
  8.  Click on the “Drivers” tab
  9.  Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
  10.  Select Ok
  11.  Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
  12.  Close Devices and Printers, restart the computer.

Click here to download the HP Full-featured driver.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Keep me posted for further assistance.

The issue could have been caused by the security settings changed on the user profile.

You may either create a new user, login with the new user profile to install the printer or Turn off the UAC from the control panel and Restart the PC.

Here are the steps to configure UAC settings:

Open User Account Control Settings by clicking the Start button and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type uac, and then click Change User Account Control settings.

To turn off UAC, move the slider to the Never notify position, and then click OK.

if you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. You will need to restart your computer for UAC to be turned off.

I hope that helps.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.

Hello Sandytechy20 - the problem is identical on both my PCs, one is running Windows 7, the other Windows 10.
Am I likely to be encountering this on both systems following changing the cartridge?

@JSS3

It seems like a software issue rather than an issue with the ink cartridge as you are able to make copies and print PDF files from both the PC. Let us try installing the printer using Windows built-in drivers and check if that helps. you may fist try this on the Win 10 PC.

Refer to the steps mentioned in this document. (Uninstall the previously installed driver before performing this step)

Keep me posted for further assistance.
