HP Envy 5530
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

Hi all,

I replaced the ink of my HP Envy 5530 with new, official HP cartridges.
As always, the printer wants to print an alignment page. But it doesn't print. It keeps showing the "printing alignment page" message, but nothing happens.  There's no error message.

If I cancel the alignment process: then it stays on the "canceling" screen;

I've tried switching on/off multiple times. Replaced the HP cartridges again, unplugged the printer, chatted to the virtual assistant and looked on this forum but nothing seems to work...

Any ideas?

Hi @GS_Thierry

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

Let's try a power reset on the printer

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

That didn't work. Tried that multiple times..

However, I did seem to have fixed the issue by opening the printer completely and check all the gears and wires. Nothing seemed wrong but it suddenly started printing out of nowhere. Problem is fixed for now, let's hope it stays that way.

I have this same issue.  Have tried unplugging, waiting 60 seconds, plugging back directly into the wall.  Didn't work.

Also tried removing ink cartridges, unplugging power cord, waiting 60 seconds, plugging back in then reinstalling brand new ink cartridges.  Still stuck in alignment mode.

Also tried pressing cancel/resume at same time, but it just shuts down.

Sometimes it'll let me print, but I can't scan while it's busy aligning (that NEVER finishes)

HELP!!??!!
