HP Envy 4520 will not allow user to copy/scan

HP Envy 4520
Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

Have had HP envy for almost 2 years, no problem till today could not copy from board after pressing copy.  Turned off, unplugged, called help desk which isn't HP, rebooted  and [edit] told me to purchase new printer.  Printer will print from computer but not copy.

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the Copy/ Scan issue. 

 

Please try these steps to reset the printer - 

 

1) Take out the cartridges. 
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall. 
3) Wait for 30 seconds.  
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not to a surge protector. 
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

 

Also, try updating the printer's firmware. Download and install the firmware for Mac OS X 10.10 from this link.  

 

You may also try these steps.
