HP Envry 4520

I can print the image using regular paper just fine. I then  try using Glossy HP Photo paper and printing fails, nothing but a few black marks and the paper gets jammed everytime as well.  I load with the Glossy side down, I have all new catridges etc.  I set the paper type to photo paper, etc.  If the only thing I am doing differently is changing the paper then I should at least see some sort of image!!    Clearly this model was never really tested for photo printing...  These f...ing printers are disposible. It is cheaper to buy a new printer than buy the ink refills.  I guess I'll just print pictures at a Walmart kiosk for 29 cents each. HP home printers are such just garbage.

My hp Envy 4520 printer will not print on glossy photo paper.  The paper gets jammed every time.  How can I fix it?

@Mywimb,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues printing photo paper.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

What is the type and size of photo paper you are using?

Have you tried using a different brand photo paper?

Meanwhile, I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  2. Remove USB cable, if present.
  3. Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  4. Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  5. Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

If you continue facing the issue, then follow the below steps.

  1. Gently grasp the handles on either side of the printer, and then raise the ink cartridge access door until it locks into place.

The carriage moves to the center of the printer.

  2. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before you proceed.

  3. Turn off the printer.

  4. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

  5. Disconnect the USB cable, if it is not already disconnected.

  6. Locate the paper path cover in the area behind the ink cartridge access area.

Image: Example of the paper path cover.

  7. To remove the paper path cover, pinch the tabs together, and then lift up.

    1. Pinch the tabs together

    2. Lift up

  8. Lightly dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water, and then squeeze any excess liquid from the cloth.

  9. Press the cloth against the rollers inside the printer, and then rotate them upward with your fingers.

Apply a moderate amount of pressure to remove dust or dirt buildup.

  10. Allow the rollers to dry completely (approximately 10 minutes).

  11. Replace the paper path cover.

  12. Close the ink cartridge access door.

  13. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer, and then turn on the printer.

  14. Reconnect the USB cable to the printer if necessary.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
