HP ENVY 5540 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just uninstalled and then reinstalled my HP Envy 5540 printer because it was not printing at all. After I reinstalled it, I downloaded the full software from HP Support.

Now, I cannot print in color, and when I try to go to Printing Preferences to change it, I get the following error:

"Function address 0x00007FFCAD1BA799 caused a protection fault. (exception code 0xe06d7363)

The application property sheet page(s) may not function properly."

I have restarted my computer, I have uninstalled the printer and reinstalled it. I have tried everything I can think of. Please help.

I power reset the printer and used the print doctor. Still didn't work.

I ended up contacting HP Support, and they helped me fix the issue by Uninstaller the printer and reinstalling it manually using the IP address. It works now, yay! Just wanted to let you know as well in case someone else has the same issue.

Hi @Peachie3

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you

Due to the current global COVID-19 situation, we're seeing an influx of customers coming in for support. We appreciate your patience.

Try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

 Let's try and uninstall the printer software from the root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.

--->In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.

--->Select your HP printer.

--->Select Uninstall.

--->In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.

--->In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”

--->Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.

--->Type printui.exe /s and click OK.

--->Click on the Drivers tab.

--->Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.

--->Select OK.

--->Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.

--->Close Devices and Printers.

And then reinstall the printer full-featured drivers from software and drivers page

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I did all of these steps and reinstalled the printer driver. Now, I cannot print at all. When I try to print, it says, "User Intervention Required". I checked to make sure the paper wasn't empty, and it is full, so it isn't that. Now what?

Let's try a power reset on the printer

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

Download HP Print and Scan Doctor and run the program. It will automatically diagnose and fix any printer connectivity issues.
