Is it possible to set duplex printing as the default instead of selecting it on a job basis?

Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the case regarding assistance with making duplex printing as the default printing feature.. I will be delighted to assist you here.
Superb description, brilliant troubleshooting and terrific observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:
- Did you check the printer settings?
For now, try these steps:
- Follow all the prescribed steps relevant to your issue from this link: http://hp.care/2BN1OI1 (HP Printers - How to Print on Both Sides of the Paper (Windows) (Duplexing)
- Also check this link: http://hp.care/2BMN4ZA (HP Printers - Print Driver Settings Guide (Windows) check the option under “Layout and formatting settings” and check the option for both sides of the page.
If the issue continues, then uninstall and reinstall the drivers at the root level:
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
- Select your HP printer.
- Select Uninstall.
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
- In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- Click on Drivers tab.
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
- Select OK.
- Remove all instances of the same.
- Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
- Close Devices and Printers.
- Restart the PC again.
Then download the latest full feature driver from http://hp.care/2vCcN4d and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.
Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.
This should fix it for you.
Then check the documents mentioned above and it should do the trick for you.
Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat.
