HP Incompatibility Ink Cartridge

HP8600 Officejet Pro
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've seen many entries in the Forum about HP incompatibility Ink Cartridges.  I have 2 HP8600 Officejet Pros and I purchase a lot of ink cartridges.  I always purchase them from either Amazon or Staples and once I bought a cartridge from Kroger.   Now I am getting this message about incompatibility Ink cartridges.  why oh tell me why if I purchase a 950XL cartridge for HP8600 It will not work.  I have over $250.00 worth of cartridges I do not know what will work and what will not work and I do not want to open all packages.  Please tell me that HP is fixing these issues

HP Incompatibility Ink Cartridge

Hi @johnnytom

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

 

Make sure the ink cartridges are compatible

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

 

Also, perform step 3 mentioned in this document.

HP Incompatibility Ink Cartridge

I tried your steps to fix the problem and it did not work.  So I chatted with Amazon for about hour because the print cartridges were purchased from them but they were past the return policy date, but there was a HP warranty until 06/2020 on the cartridge.  Amazon finally connected me to HP  and since the printer itself is out of warranty there is nothing they can do.  Printer is going in the  garbage unless someone on the forum has a fix.

That's unfortunate. If the issue persists, it could be a possible hardware issue. The printer has to be upgraded as it is out of warranty.
