HP Officejet 3830 error print message

HP Officejet 3830
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

HP Officejet 3830 continues to give error message when trying to print.  There is no information provided about the error.  I've tried deleting printer, resetting printer to factory settings and running HP trouble shooting.  Nothing works and the only response from two years ago has a link that doesn't work, and instructions that didn't work. Anyone know what the problem is or do I have to get a new printer?

HP Officejet 3830 error print message

Hi @Mhcharles

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

  • To assist you better, what is the error you get?

For now, let us try these steps:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Also, check for any jams inside the printer and make sure the print carriage is moving freely.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
