Perform a power reset
- Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 30 seconds.
- Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector and printer.
- Turn on the printer.
Update the printer firmware
Refer HP document for the steps to update firmware:- Click here
Let me know how it goes.
To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.
Cheers.

HP Officejet 6600 - getting printhead appears to be missing, not detected or incorrectly installed
08-01-2019 05:21 AM
Hi,
I already tried the power reset several times and it keeps giving me the same message ”the printhead is appeared to be missing, not detected or incorrectly installed”
As for the firmware it’s giving me the following message: “There was a problem adding your printer to your HP Connected account. The server may not be floating or your session has timed out. Follow the steps below to complete the action.” and it’s asking me to print a paper in order to get the password but the printer isn’t printing!
Regards!

I suggest you do a Hard Reset on the printer
(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.
(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Try updating the firmware again, using the USB.
If the issue persists, I would personally suggest you contact our HP Support.

Make sure you select the Country and Region.
Keep me posted, how it goes!

Following instructions by unplugging and plugging unit back in. Firmware is up to date, but still gives printhead error.

@Bernard91, Welcome to HP Support Community!
If you have already performed the steps from the document Resolving Printhead Errors and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.
