HP Officejet 7612. Error message; "There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If the problem persists, contact HP." Note, I rarely use it to print, mostly use it to scan.
I reset (unplug while on, 60 sec....). Same error.
Changed all ink cartridges. Same error.
I can live with it as a scanner only and quit using it as a printer if I can just turn it on.

I understand you are not able to print or scan on the printer due to this error.
Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document to resolve this issue.
If the error persists, I'm afraid this is a hardware issue with the printer, please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Thanks for trying. I had already found this article, did everything. Apparently the Printer Needs Servicing. It's not under warranty. I'll take it to electronics recycling (along with 6 brand new print cartridges) and consider this a big loss.
Sadly, the printer did not serve me well.
