The tray that catches the paper opens and extends to two different lengths.  I can easily open it to the first length (halfway to the full length), but then it gets stuck trying to pull it out to its full length.  How can I extend it out all the way without breaking the tray by yanking harder or jostling it (which does work when I do that)? Thank you.

Welcome to HP support community.

Refer page no.11 in this user guide for the steps to extend the output tray:- Click here

I hope that helps.

Thank you. After reading the document, I'm referring to the output tray extension. It always gets stuck and I have to jostle it to get it to extend. I fear that I'll break the extension. Is there an easy and safe way to pull out the extension without breaking it?

I meant that when I'm about to print something, I want to extend the output tray extension. But it gets stuck so I end up yanking it gently or jostling the extension until it extends.

Is it supposed to be easier to just extend the tray all the way out?

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

I hope that helps.
