HP Officejet Pro 6978 prints pink instead of blue

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer prints various shades of blue fading to pink from left to right on the page, then some lines the blue goes all the way across the page but other lines totally pink. I have cleaned print heads to the 3rd level, changed the cyan cartridge and cleaned print heads to the 3rd level again. On the print quality diagnostics page, Test Pattern 3 is green with yellow sections, with more yellow sections in each pattern from left to right. The print alignment page has gaps in the blue boxes (but no pink) so the scan of the alignment page is unsuccessful. On the diagnostics page and the cleaning pages where the blue boxes are only on the left side of the page, the color looks fine. I do not get good blue printing on copies either (another post got poor printing but copies were OK).

Is there something else I can do at home, or is it time to buy a new printer? (it is out of warranty)

If you have already performed the steps from the document Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

 

Since the device is out of warranty, and we've concluded that this is a hardware malfunction, I may have a few pointers/suggestions to help you out, however, since these suggestions are limited to you and your printer alone, I'd like to send out a private message with those details.
