HP6978 Will not print color after changing the color print cartridges

HP Office Jet Pro 6978
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

My printer does not print color.  Black and white is just fine.  It happened after I changed all the color print cartridges.  I have tried multiple computers with multiple operating systems, no luck on any of them.  I have tried the following to no avail:

1)  Cleaned the print head about a dozen times.

2)  Restarting the printer.  Powering it down, unplugging, pressing the power button,  plugging back in and starting.

3)  Changing the printer cartridges.  Tried the old ones that did work, still no luck.

4)  Manually cleaning the printer heads, again several times.

5)  Reinstalling the printer driver on the computer.

 

Any other suggestions?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

 

Are you able to copy in color?

 

  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.

  2. From the printer control panel, open the Setup  menu.

  3. Open the Reports or Tools menu.

  4. Touch Print Quality Report.

Let me know if you see any color on this report.

 

Let's align the Printer:

 

  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.

  2. From the printer control panel, open the Setup  menu.

  3. Open the Printer Maintenance or Tools menu.

  4. Touch Align Printhead.

It could be a set of faulty new color cartridges too. Do you have any more new color cartridges?

HP6978 Will not print color after changing the color print cartridges

So, no luck.  No color prints ever.  Not on any of the print quality reports, a test page or from any application from any computer (both windows and mac).  I have tried 2 sets of cartridges.  When I do a clean, the ink levels go down, however, no color ever prints.

This looks like a hardware issue.
