HP 8210
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

In SETTINGS I have enabled sleepmode after 15 min.

It never enters sleep mode.

I have disabled IPv6 and assigned a static IP address in IPv4.

I have performed a hard reset on the printer.

The issue still persists.

Any solution?

Hi @pjp101,

Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I understand you are having issues with the HP OfficeJet printer not going to sleep mode. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.

Splendid effort and fabulous description of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. You are a valued HP customer and it is paramount to assist you here. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you recently made any changes on the printer before the issue started?

Have you tried to update the printer firmware?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Please make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to install the latest firmware update, using this link: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/oj8210/OJ8210_R1709A.exe

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Eagerly waiting for your response!

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

Hi @Jeet_Singh

Thank you for your advice, highly appreciated.

First I would like to answer your questions:

Q:Have you recently made any changes on the printer before the issue started?

A: No, before the issue started I did not make any change. The issue started the day when the printer came out of the box

Q: Have you tried to update the printer firmware?

A: Yes, I have recently updated to firmware: TESPDLPP1.NN001.1803A.0

The firmware update from your link was not applicable.

I disconnected the power cord on both sides and removed additional charge.

Regrettably after all our efforts, HP8210 will not go into sleep mode.

Any solution?
