Horrible Print Quality - HP 5258 OfficeJet

iMac
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

The photos come out with a heavy yellow tinge. I print from Macs running both High Sierra and the latest Catalina OS. No difference. Ink levels are high.

I aligned the print heads, that was a challenge in itself. The alignment page left a too wide header at the top of the page and couldn't be scanned. I had to reduce that gap before it could scanned and the alignment completed. No correction on the color print quality.

I tried a hard reset with the printer on and pulling the power cord. No effect on print color quality.

I also tried printing from my iPhone and iPad (yes I standardized on Apple products) with the same poor results.

Suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

Horrible Print Quality - HP 5258 OfficeJet

Hi @JPB4516BS

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

Try making a standalone color copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Update the printer firmware

On the printer screen, go to Setup > Tools > Update the printer > Check now

Clean the ink cartridges

Perform steps 10 and 13 from this document.

You may print a print quality page to check if the issue is resolved.

Also, check the print settings on the MAC.

Refer to this document to know how to make changes to the settings. Make sure the correct paper type and paper size are selected.

For more info on resolving print quality issues, kindly refer to this document.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
