How do I stop my HP officejet pro from remembering my last print option.

How can I stop my printer from remembering my last instruction without having to restart my computer everytime? E.G. I ask it to print 2 pages on 1 sheet and then after printing that - it always defaults to that for any other print job I do  unless I restart my computer.  Help this is driving me mad!!!!

Printers vary - there are hundreds of models out there, at least.

In GENERAL, the Preferences handle the job settings, including those that "stick" from job to job.

Exactly how you set / adjust / manage the preferences depends on your printer and your Operating System /Version.

General information 

If the following is not useful,

Scroll to the bottom of this message,

Open the homepage for your printer,

Open category "How-to"

Select Topic Print

Select Subtopic Instructions and Settings

Find the appropriate document for your printer, your operating system, and your situation.

Check / Adjust / Retain the Paper at the Printer Panel

Open Printer Tray,

If you have not yet done so, add desired paper type

Close Tray

IF applicable for your printer:

Look for a message on the Printer Control Panel,

Click Modify (wording varies), set the paper size and type, Click OK

NOTE:  If the size of the Paper Size is not in the Drop-down list, Select Custom

Set the Preferences - Windows

1. The following assumes the Full Feature Software has been installed.
2. Check / enable the printer as the “Default Printer”
3. Select and adjust settings in each category for the Media (kind of paper), source (tray), and paper size.

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers > Right-Click on your printer > Set as Default

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers > Right-Click on your printer > Printing Preferences >

Tab Printing Shortcuts > Click / Highlight preferred shortcut > Click Apply > Click OK to exit

If the printer software supports the feature, change the settings as desired, then use “Save as” to create a Custom Shortcut.

OR

Windows key + S (search for) Printers and Scanners

Left-Click on (your) Printer > Manage >

Printing Preferences

Select a shortcut and / or set “preferred settings” for paper, source (tray), other settings

Optional (if / as available): Save As > enter a name for your custom shortcut

Click OK to save the preferences

Two-Pages on One Sheet might be something you do using PDF reader software.

In general, the "last" setup you use in the print menu might stick around.

You can change the settings in the Adobe Reader DC print menu without having to restart your whole computer.

After you print, open the Reader software and select a "more standard" print setup.

Before you actually print the file, exit out of the PDF reader program.
