OfficeJet Pro 8720
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Have a brand new 8720. Out of the box install for wireless connection worked fine. However, using the CD to install additional software the wireless connection vanished. I get a message on the printer screen that says something along the lines of "Installer deactivated this feature." Any ideas to fix my lack of connectivity. My network is fine for everything else.

Hi @Wapping

Just send you a Private message.

Look at the top right hand corner for an "envelope" icon, click on it to read the Private message.

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Is the wireless LED blinking or is it off?

Can you touch the icon and go to Settings (gear icon) and enable the wireless?

Thereafter, use the Wireless Setup Wizard to connect your printer to the network.

This example will show you how to do that:

Connecting a printer using Wireless Setup Wizard

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the suggestion. First off:

1 - The printer wireless LED is "OFF."

If I touch the wireless icon on the printer I then get this specific message:

"This feature has been disabled. Contact the person who set up the printer."

The Wireless Setup Wizard fails under this situation.

A recap of events in my initial printer setup . Using the prompts available on the printer screen the machine connected as expected with the network. This was evidenced by the report I printed entitled: "Wireless Network Test Results." This report showed everything was "PASS." A print of this report now shows "FAIL" for local network connection.

Currently I'm using a USB connection and the printer works OK. However, I need the wireless capability to take care of location issues.

Bottom line - no progress. I just tried my Canon briefcase wireless printer and it connects with no problem as a check on my network.
