HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3835
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I bought a new HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3835 printer and trying to add the printer to my laptop. Been having great difficulty setting up. I'm now trying to add printer to my computer but had been asking for a WPS Pin. I struggled to get the Pin and when I finally got it it did not work. I tried a different method of adding the printer and now it has the message " Please wait while Setup installs necessary files on your system. This may take several minutes " for more than an hour with no progress. Why is it so difficult to add a printer to computer so I can print. Really should be more sure friendly. I just want to use what I've bought.

I understand that you are unable to add the printer to the laptop.

 

Do not worry. I will try to fix the issue.

 

Please do not use the  WPS PIN method.

 

If you cannot complete the setup with the WPS PIN, click Cancel and install the HP Smart app instead. During the installation, you are prompted to set up the printer connection.

  • Windows 10: Go to Microsoft Store - HP Smart to install and set up the app with your printer.

  • Android and Apple mobile devices, and Mac computers: Go to 123.hp.com, enter your printer model, and then follow the instructions to install the app.

As you are using Windows 8.1 operating system. Please perform the below steps to setup.

 

Go to printer screen, setup > wireless settings > wireless setup wizard.
