If you have another cartridge take a look at the front top side.  There is a plastic ridge designed to keep the cartridge from being put in the wrong slot.  The slot has a complimentary plastic barrier.  If the cartridge is pressed firmly into the wrong slot it may move under the barrier and then become trapped in the slot.  To free the cartridge I would suggest the following:

  • Open the printer access to get to the cartridges.  After the carriage stops moving unplug the printer (without turning it off).
  • Get a flat something to use as a pry bar.  I would suggest the back of a spoon handle, or a dull table knife.
  • Insert the pry bar between the top of the cartridge and the underside of the carriage slot.  Slide it forward and then gently lift the pry bar slightly, just enough to allow the cartridge to be pulled free.

Thanks Bob for the suggestion.  I'm afraid I may have made it worse by trying other ways before going by your instructions...anyway,  it still won't come out.  Any way to take something apart to get it out?

Which cartridge is in the wrong slot?  Let me know and I can possibly provide some pictures that may help.
