If the test pages are ok, the hardware is good. Does the same happen while copying too?

Let's do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.)  Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:

The test pages are beautiful...no streaks, no missing colors, etc. My printer did not try to repeatedly align itself until after I changed the print head. That triggered something. Just not sure why this is happening. Every time I print something, the printer attempts to align itself but can't so I get the error message "Alignment failed. Refer to device documentation for details". It's using my ink up quickly and I just replaced 3 of the ink cartridges during this process! So including the cost of the print head, I'm also out for the cost of 3 ink cartridges. And the ink is going down fast! It's just so frustrating because everything was fine before I replaced the ink head and I like the printer! I will try your suggestions and get back to you. Are you confident it's not a bad print head? If it was, would the print quality be bad?

Thanks so much for your help!

Hello Betty. Well, I followed the instructions, uninstalled the printer, went to the website. There were 3 recommended full feature driver downloads. didn't know which one to choose so I picked the first one. Not sure what happened but there was a "fatal error" during install. Plus...I have Windows 10 and it kept referring to Window 8? I tried printing something out and it's definitely not right. Shall I do an uninstall again? Which Recommended download should I use?

Thank you

Well, after hours and hours of troubleshooting...including your recommendations...I may have finally fixed the problem of the "failed alignment" error. My printer is 10+ years old but it worked just fine before I changed the printhead. I tried your suggestions but nothing worked. In fact, I was unable to install my printer using the recommended driver download from HP's website. What worked? Using the Windows 10 add a printer download AND doing a "bypass pen alignment" via the control panel screen on the printer. It may not be ideal...but it's working so far...no repeated print alignments! The print quality has been perfect so there should have been no need for the continuous print alignment...which used up a TON of my just purchased ink! I have spent over $130 for a new printhead, and three ink cartridges...will need a new black cartridge soon as the constant print alignment attempts have sucked up much of that ink too. Not a happy camper! Hoping this fix works...at least until it's time to get a new printer. Happy Easter Betty🐣🐰 Thanks for trying to help me🙂
