Looks like I am not the only one that is having an error message when installing new ink cartridges in my HP Officejet Pro 8600.  I have reset my printer to the factory setting and loaded software and firmeware with no change in the error code.  Where can I find a regionalization code to get the printer to accept by HP ink cartiridges that should work.

Welcome to HP support community.

Did you shift the printer to different region?

Meanwhile:

Clean the ink cartridge contacts

  1. Turn the printer on.

  2. Open the door to access to the ink cartridges.

  3. Wait until the carriage stops moving before you continue.

  4. Push in on the front of the ink cartridge indicated in the error message, and then remove it.

  5. Wipe the electrical contact on the ink cartridge with a lint-free cloth.

  6. Insert the ink cartridge into its color-coded slot until it snaps into place.

  7. Repeat these steps for any other ink cartridges indicated in the error message.

  8. Close the ink cartridge access door.

I have not shifted the printer to a different region.  It looks like my depleted cartridges were z20.  Where I purchased them I do not know but they ran just fine.   I am sure that this is the problem.   I am and always have been in the USA so I don't understand the mix up.  Is there a regionalization code that can clear this error?  The cartridges that were just installed with the error are from HP  z10.

For years now I have been using 951XL cartridges in my Officejet Pro 8600 printer - now I have an Incompatible ink cartridge error message.

I cannot leave the message to do anything with the printer ea. check for updates.
