“The following cartridges are not intended for use in this printer”. 

Printer says 950 for Black and 951 for the other colors.  I purchased cartridges from HP website using my serial number.  Verified that they were the correct 950/951.  Now when I install them, they’re not valid.  I’ve restarted several times but doesn’t help.   I decided to try another cartridge I had and that didn’t work either!

Are you using z10 or z20 cartridges?

 

Check on both old and new ink cartridges.

The cartridges that came with the printer had no Z number.  We purchased ink directly from HP’s website twice.  The first time we received Z20 cartridges and those worked.  These recent cartridges were Z10 an they don’t work.  

We bought the printer new from BestBuy in 2013.  I noticed that the Z10 is for “use in the US” and the Z20 cartridge says “use in Europe, Russia...”.  I’m confused why the Z20 would work in a printer that was purchased in the US and the ink was all purchased from HP.  Thanks for your assistance.  I can’t wait to resolve this so I can use my printer again!
