Photosmart B209a-m
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have a Photosmart B209a-m that has worked well with compatible cartridges but when I replaced one yesterday the incompatible printhead message came up.  I can’t get past it to print anything. I have tried switching off at the mains, getting new drivers, replacing the ink, running HP scan doctor, but I cannot get it to print.  Has HP downloaded another firmware restriction and if so, how can I change it?

@secours, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I understand you have issues with printing after replacing the ink cartridge. Firstly, we would recommend you use HP genuine ink cartridges as we cannot guarantee the functionality of non-HP or refilled inks.

If you are using HP ink cartridges, follow the document  Ink Cartridge Errors to resolve the issue.

If you need further assistance, please reach out to the HP Support in your region.

Hope this helps!

No this doesn't help at all, it is how to get past the error message that I need to find out.  If it is another HP firmware attachment how can I get past it or do I need to throw out the printer?  Whatever ink I put in, even the ink I took out that was working perfectly well, it won't work because of the error message.   Also, when I get an email response from the community I am denied access to read it.

This is a hardware issue.

A hardware issue with what?  The printer will still scan but it won't print because the message comes up as soon as I turn it on.  I do not want to buy a whole new set of HP ink and find that it still doesn't print.

It is an issue with the ink system and not just the ink cartridges. and hence, you'd need help from our support team for further course of action.

Hope this helps!
