Officejet Pro 6830
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi - bought the Officejet Pro 6830 - when the former Deskjet 6540 went to sleep. Still don't know if it is dead - or if the problem is that it lacked support? It's on a W7.

 

BUT - this old printer - had a lightning respons to the "print" or "ctrl p" button. It went on RIGHT AWAY! Without "thinking", "grinding" og "minching".

 

The new printer - does everything of those time-consuming events mentioned  above - BEFORE IT (by passing a pretty amount of time) DECIDES TO PRINT!

 

WHY? - is there something wrong with the set-up?

 

I really CAN'T imagine - that a product of 2016 - can be SO inferior to a product of - well - 2010 - or around that time???

 

If it's real - what went wrong in the brain of the engeneers constructing this printer(-engine)?

I understand that your new printer is printing slow. Try performing a hard reset and make a copy to isolate the issue. Follow the steps below:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.


Once done, make a “Photocopy” and check. Place a document face down on the scanner glass and press the copy option on the printer control panel. Let me know if it makes a good copy or not.


Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Hey Dvortex - thanks for your answer. Your instructions was followed, the "copy" was fine, and it went from pure sadnes to much much better, now  using around 10 sec in wake-up-time  (formerly more than one minute) until the printing is starting, and around 5 sec. for printing - both numbers are pretty acceptably.

 

I've also tryed out a 1,5 h "sleep-time", but i stil woke up in 10 sec. and first out in 15 sec.

Most of the new HP printers come with an inbuilt surge protector and hence it is important to connect the printer directly to a wall outlet to get the best out of it.
