Ink Cartridge(s) must be replaced

HP Envy 5532

Replaced my HP cartridge with a HP 61 XL.  Printer is telling me the ink cartridge must be replaced.  I tried the old cartridge, and it recognizes it, but not the new one.  I did a hard restart on my printer, and no luck.  Any ideas?  Did I just waste $45 on a faulty ink cartridge?  Thanks!

Since this is a defective cartridge, you could either return it to the store/website you purchased it from or contact the HP Support Team regarding this.
