HP Photosmart 5524. After inserting new cartridge the carrier is stuck on the right and doesn’t move to the center when the door is opened.

Hello,

Please try the below steps..

Look at the rollers feeding the paper through the machine. The carriage will be on the right hand side.on the right hand side of the roller there should be a gear turning the feed roller shaft.Try to turn that gear with a flat screwdriver but careful not to break it.If you look at the parts under the carriage you will notice the cleaning tray should start moving under the head assembly. That should release the head to get it to move by hand.

I would once i get the head to move to the left, remove the ink cartridges and switch on the machine .Check if the head moves onto the ink cleaning tray and back to the position to replace the ink.

Regards,
Jabzi

Thanks Jabzi. Tried this but Turning the gear does not seem to do anything.
