Ink cartridge reinstall

Envy 5540
macOS 10.14 Mojave

I have an HP Envy 5540 printer that keeps coming up with an error saying to reinstall the ink cartridge. It has been removed and reinstalled multiple times with no change in the error. The printer has also been cycled on and off and doesn't have a change. I am using the instant ink, paying every month, for a printer that won't work.

 

The latest solution I found on here was from 2016 and the link given for a solution is no longer active. Please help before I cancel my plan and get a new printer from another company. Thanks.
