Ink cartridges that came with new printer not communicating with printer

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

 

What is the error message that you get on the printer?

Make sure the protective plastic tape if any is removed from the ink cartridge before inserting it in the printer.

 

For now, let us try these steps:

 

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

 

Update the printer firmware

As I have said repeatedly. I have completed ALL the troubleshooting steps MULTIPLE times. I was told I would get a replacement SETUP magenta cartridge. I have given all the info several times! This is a joke! I have a brand new printer that is just sitting and I cannot use it! I just want the replacement cartridge I was promised.
