Ink jet photo 7520

I took out the photo cartridge in my printer, realized I didn’t have a new one so out it back in.  I keep getting an error message.  So I bought a new cartridge but I am still getting the same error message- one of your cartridges is defective or not installed properly.  Help!  The printer won’t work without the cartridge working.

Welcome to HP support community.

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.

  2. Unplug the power cord from the power source.

  3. Wait 60 seconds.

  4. Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.

    NOTE:

HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

  5. Turn the printer on.

Update the printer firmware

Refer the steps mentioned in this HP document for firmware update:- Click here

Clean the electrical contacts

  1. Open the door to access to the ink cartridges.

  2. Wait until the carriage stops moving before you continue.

  3. Push the tab on the ink cartridge indicated by the error message, and then pull the ink cartridge from its slot.

       CAUTION:

Clean the ink cartridges one at a time. Do not leave an ink cartridge outside of the printer for more than 30 minutes.

I hope that helps.
