I've installed the duplexer from my 6700 on my 6600 H711g (supposedly the model that supports a duplexer). I have set up printing prefs on my computer to print on both sides. Device settings show Auto Duplexing: Installed
However printing always comes out as individual sheets.
On the printer itself, when I run Printer Status Report, item 10 on Product Information says:
10. Duplexer: Not installed
The duplexer worked fine on the 6700, the printer works fine, just doesn't print double sided. It would appear that the printer is not recognizing the duplexer, although it snaps into place just fine.

Welcome to the HP Forums, this is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that the duplexer is not detected. I would like to help you resolve this issue.
Perform a power reset
- Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 30 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn on the printer.
Update the printer firmware.
Click here and refer the document to know how to update the firmware.
Let me know how it goes.

I did exactly as you said. Once the printer was back on line I tried downloading the 6700 firmware. The printer was not recognized. Then I tried the 6600 firmware, and the printer was already up to date. Then I re-installed the printer and all the software from the HP site. The report still says "10. Duplexer not installed." It does say ADF installed, if that means anything. I'm lost 😞
