My wireless randomly stopped working one day. Tried trouble-shooting and had to connect with a USB, but I gave up when it said I needed 2.4Ghz connection (well I only have one option which is 5G... and I don't understand why it was previously working on 5G and now suddenly it won't work).

Now my issue is that I switched to Wi-Fi Direct instead. This worked well for about 1 week. But then I installed my instant ink new cartridge, and since then I have a flashing envelope/ink droplet. Suddenly now I am unable to print because it says "error" on my computer. The information yellow light is blinking. And when I open up HP Smart, it is saying wifi-direct is "connected/on"... but the error won't go away because it says instant ink isn't connected. Well I know instant ink won't work with wifi-direct, but I'd rather be able to print in general than use that service. Another community support person said to turn off web services in advanced settings. This didn't work either.

I would like help to solve either of these issues. But figure the second one is easier.

Hi @Tiffany289

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the connectivity issue.

HP DeskJet 2620 All-in-One Printer does not support connection to 5 GHZ. Please refer to "Connectivity" section from the Product Specifications Page.

Is your router dual-band enabled i.e., both 2.4GHz and 5GHz? If yes, make sure the dual band has different SSIDs for 2.4G and 5G networks. The Printer and  Mac should be on the 2.4 GHz network.

One of the Instant Ink requirement is - A printer with an active Internet connection: The printer must be set up on a wired or wireless network and Web Services must be turned on. This connection is required so that HP Instant Ink can securely monitor your printer’s ink status. A daily connection between your printer and the Internet is not required, but HP recommends that you allow your printer to remain connected as often as possible. After your printer has been disconnected for a few days, you receive reminders to connect. If you fail to connect, eventually your HP Instant Ink cartridges stop printing.

With Wi-Fi Direct or USB connection, the Instant Ink server will not be able to monitor the page count and inks levels.

Please send us a private message with your Instant Ink account details or you may also respond to the private message I've sent out and I'll help you out, accordingly. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Per usare la stampante con il wi fi direct senza router bisogna usare cartucce non instant ink.

Questo bisogna dirlo nei manuali delle stampanti

Hi there,

Your printer does not necessarily always have to be connected via Wifi for Instant Ink to work, it is important to clarify that the printer must be connected to the network with a certain frequency so that the system recognizes the frequency of use of the printer and correctly counts the pages.

If the error is related to the connection, the best way to understand what is happening is to log into your account. On the home page of the account it is possible to see possible warnings  and messages explaining what is happening. Errors can occur due to missing information, when you need to update some data in the register, such as address, email, payment method, it can also be related to the amount of time that your printer is not connected to the network, among other problems.

After finishing what is requested in your account, your printer will work again. To log in, open the link below and click Sign in at the top right of the page:

I hope it helps.
