Product: HP Officejet3836
Operating System: macOS 10.15 Catalina

Setting up an OfficeJet 3836 purchased yesterday. After installing both cartridges and closing the door I get an error message that both cartridges are missing. The two protective tapes have been removed so that isn't the issue.  I have tried removing the cartridges, disconnecting from the power for 5 minutes and reinstalling them with the same result. Is there any method by which the printer can be restored to factory settings?

Hi,

Have you only removed the blue or orange-colored label protective type and not the copper-colored contacts by any chance, right? can you see the brown dots of the copper-colored contacts?
