@PWALL, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

This seems like an issue with the ink cartridge or the printhead of the printer. Let us try these steps that may resolve this issue:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Check the estimated ink levels

On the printer control panel, touch the Ink Level icon () or ().

Replace any low or empty ink cartridges.

Clean the printhead

  1. Load plain white paper into the tray.

  2. On the printer control panel, touch the right arrow  to display more options.

  3. Touch Setup, and then touch Tools. The Tools Menu displays.

  4. Touch Clean Printhead.

  5. Wait while the printer completes the printhead cleaning process, and then touch OK.

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page

  1. On the printer control panel, touch the Right Arrow () to display more options.

  2. Touch Setup (). The Setup Menu displays.

  3. Touch the Down Arrow (), and then touch Reports.

  4. Touch Print Quality Report. The test page prints.

Let me know how this goes.
