My yellow ink cartridge decided to completely spaz out and leak all over the inside of the printer. The last printed page is literally soaked with yellow ink and has small pools of ink on it. Looking inside the printer, I see yellow ink in a lot of places.

Obviously I'm going to replace the cartridge. My main question, however, is what is the proper method for cleaning up the inside of the printer:

  1. How do I clean it (what cleaning agents; what type of cloth/q-tip/etc.)?
  2. What all must be cleaned, and what can I just leave all covered in yellow?
  3. I'm not really going to be able to reach all the spots from the front access panel, is there an easy way to take the printer apart so I can better clean out the ink?
  4. Right now the ink is wet. Do I need to worry about it drying before I clean it?
  5. Do I just give up and buy a new printer?

Any help would be appreciated.

The liquid ink is aggressive to metal, so if you have some ink spilt on the electronic part then is it time for a new printer.

i have same issue but you probably bought new print since posting this question.

I wish HP Support would reply if there is a way to take printer apart to clean. I can see a lot of black ink on the right end of printer bar, and some brushes which are soaked black.
