HP 4520
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Before I print anything with my HP 4520 inkjet printer, I always go in to the printer properties section, and select draft quality, to save on ink (I am using genuine HP carts), but the text is always printed out in normal mode, because the speed is quite slow, and the quality is good, indicating to me that it is definitely not in draft mode, as I know this to be much faster, and the quality to be less good.

Can someone suggest anything that I can try please, to see if I can get the printer to "see" that I want draft mode, and not normal mode.

This happens if I use Open Office word processor, or Adobe Reader.

Thanks a lot for any suggestions.

Update the printer firmware

Here are the steps:- Click here

 

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers. 
  • Restart the PC again.

Hello, before updating my firmware and drivers, I think it is best to establish if I have the recent firmware and drivers installed first.  If I have, then updating firmware and drivers is not necessary.

Please can you tell me how I find out what firmware version, and driver version, I have for the following printer:

HP Envy 4527.

I am using windows 10.

This might require remote access of the computer to fix the issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
