I bought HP ENVY 4500 all-in-one printer 4 years ago, used for 2 years, and saved it in my storage for 2 years.

When I reopened it, it was fresh like new. Connection with my laptop, Wifi, scan, and everything worked properly.

I checked that it has a sufficient amount of ink and inkjet tip was still wet with the ink. However, when I tried printing, it printed a paper but a blank page.

I tried one cartridge printing, putting both black/color cartridge upside down for hours, whipping out ink on cartridge tip (ink tip was not dried on color), and using different papers but all of these couldn't solve the problem.

Does anyone know why it is printing a blank page although it has a wet ink cartridge tip?

Hi @John_Hong

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

As you have not used the printer for a couple of years, the ink could have dried up. Kindly replace the ink cartridges to resolve this issue.

You may try cleaning the ink cartridges

  1. On the printer control panel, press the Down Arrow  to select Tools, and then press OK.
  2. Press the Down Arrow  to select Clean Printhead, and then press OK. The printer cleans the printhead, and then prints a printhead test page.

Perform step 12 from this document.

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic report

  1. On the printer control panel, press the Down Arrow  to scroll to Tools, and then press OK.
  2. Press the Down Arrow  to scroll to Print Quality Report, and then press OK. The printer prints the test page.

If the issue persists, you will have to change the ink cartridges taking into consideration that the printing mechanism of the printer is intact.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I think I already mentioned I have done the cartridge cleaning and manual cleaning.

I tried it again but didn't solve the problem. I think I have to buy  new cartridges,

what option do I have?

@John_Hong

That's unfortunate. As the warranty of the printer has expired, you may upgrade the printer.

Kindly visit HP Store to check the available printers.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
