I had issues with black print being smudgy and gappy. After multiple cycles of cleaning the cartridge head with q-tip and rubbing alcohol, using the "clean printhead" function of the printer, it claimed the carriage couldn't move (even though it was happily moving the carriage all over the place) and went into single cartridge mode. I've tried removing/replacing the cartridge, using a new cartridge, power cycling (including unplug/plug while printer is live) and "reset to default settings" on the tools menu. No help. I print alignment pages, quality pages, etc. and all print only color and gray with the black parts totally omitted. "Ink levels " sees the black cartidge and shows it as full. How do I reset the printer to factory defaults to (hopefully) get it unwedged from single-cartridge mode?

Hi,

It's windows10 on a Lenovo Thinkpad laptop. I tried updating firmware per your suggestion and the printer says it already has the most up-to-date installed. What next?

thanks.
